Product Description

Soundproof plywood is a specialized construction material designed to provide superior acoustic insulation while maintaining the structural benefits of traditional plywood. This innovative product integrates sound-dampening layers within the plywood structure, making it an ideal choice for environments where noise control is crucial. Whether you’re building a home theater, recording studio, or simply looking to enhance the privacy and comfort of residential or commercial spaces, soundproof plywood offers an effective and aesthetically pleasing solution.

Engineered to absorb and dampen sound waves, this plywood features a multi-layered structure that includes a core designed specifically for acoustic insulation. The result is a product that not only provides excellent soundproofing but also maintains the structural integrity, durability, and workability that professionals expect from high-quality plywood.

Production Features

The production of soundproof plywood involves incorporating sound-dampening materials such as cork and rubber into the plywood layers. This is achieved through a meticulous process where high-quality veneers are bonded using phenol-formaldehyde adhesive, known for its durability and moisture resistance. For rubber soundproof plywood, rubber layers are added to enhance acoustic insulation, while cork-based plywood uses cork layers to achieve similar results. This combination ensures that the plywood not only provides structural integrity but also significantly improves noise reduction.

Available Gradations

We offer soundproof plywood in a range of grades to match varying aesthetic and functional requirements. These grades include:

  • B/BB: Features a high-quality face veneer with a standard reverse side, suitable for visible applications where appearance and soundproofing are equally important.
  • BB/BB: Offers good quality face and reverse veneers, commonly used in general construction and where both sides of the plywood may be visible.
  • BB/CP: One side with a good face veneer and a reverse with a lower grade, suitable for applications where only one side is visible, but soundproofing is essential.
  • BB/C: Combines a good face veneer with a utility-grade reverse, ideal for structural applications where soundproofing is needed, but the reverse side will not be seen.
  • CP/CP: Utility-grade veneers on both sides, perfect for non-visual structural applications where soundproofing is the primary concern.
  • CP/C: Features a utility-grade veneer on one side and a lower grade on the reverse, used where soundproofing is crucial, but appearance is not a priority.
  • C/C: Both sides are of lower grade, making it suitable for structural applications where soundproofing is needed, but the plywood will not be exposed.

Each grade reflects the quality and appearance of the plywood’s surface and core layers, allowing customers to choose the best option based on their project’s demands. Higher grades like B/BB offer superior surface quality, while lower grades such as C/C are suitable for more budget-conscious projects.

Material

Our soundproof plywood is manufactured using high-quality birch, cork, and rubber. Birch veneer provides strength and stability, while cork and rubber are incorporated to enhance acoustic performance. Cork is known for its excellent sound absorption properties, and rubber further improves noise insulation, making the plywood highly effective in reducing sound transmission in various environments.

Adhesive

We use phenol-formaldehyde adhesive in the production of our soundproof plywood. This adhesive is renowned for its strong bonding properties and resistance to moisture, which contributes to the overall durability and longevity of the plywood. Additionally, the adhesive helps maintain the integrity of the soundproofing materials, ensuring that the plywood performs effectively over time.

Formaldehyde Emission and Moisture

Our soundproof plywood features a low formaldehyde emission rate of 0.1-0.3 mg/m² h, well below the norm of 3.5 mg/m² h.

This makes it a safer option for indoor use, ensuring that it meets strict environmental and health standards. The plywood also maintains a moisture content of 5-10%, which helps prevent warping and ensures stability in various conditions.

Formaldehyde emission level complies with the requirements of E1, CARB, EPA TSCA Title VI

Package Weight

The weight of our soundproof plywood packages ranges from 400 to 950 kg, depending on the thickness and size of the sheets.

This range allows for easy handling and transportation, accommodating different project scales and logistical needs.

Noise Protection

Our soundproof plywood offers excellent noise insulation capabilities.

Rubber-based plywood provides noise insulation of ≥35 dB, while cork-based plywood offers noise insulation of ≥32 dB.

These properties make our plywood highly effective at reducing noise transmission, ensuring a quieter and more comfortable environment.

Grades of plywood

The images show how the plywood approximately looks. The plywood sheets may differ from the photographs below within the ambit of permissible defects. Each grade has its own permissible defects, check with your manager for details.

Grade B

Grade B/B, B/BB plywood is used in furniture production and interior and exterior decorating. If the appearance of the sheets and maximum strength are crucial for your objectives, it’s best to choose grade B, which also has the tightest technical control when it comes to production. Only minor defects are permissible.

Grade BB

Grade BB/BB, BB/CP is mainly used as a flooring base or as various furniture elements, and also as a foundation for laminated plywood.

Grade CP

Grade CP is perfect for designs where the appearance isn’t the primary concern or ones hidden from view. It’s used to make packaging materials or flooring backer boards. The prevalence of noticeable defects is higher compared to better grades.

Grade C

Grade C is reserved for products where the appearance doesn’t matter at all. There may be quite a few visually noticeable defects. That being said, we still guarantee the veneers are properly glued together. Suitable to be used as packaging since, despite the low-tier grade, the plywood is still water-resistant and strong.

Plywood can be used in multiple areas:
Furniture

Furniture production – furniture decor elements can be made from plywood, as can be walls and other structure parts. Film faced plywood F/F and F/W are often used for these purposes.

Formwork

Plywood’s a convenient option when manufacturing formwork for pouring concrete. Namely F/F plywood.

Finishing

You can make interior and exterior decoration elements from plywood or use it to clad walls and roofs. MR (interior) plywood can work great for inner wall cladding, while WBP (exterior) plywood is perfect outer cladding. Thanks to the phenol-formaldehyde adhesive in its composition, this type of plywood has increased water resistance.

Transport

Train car sheeting, truck trailer flooring. F/W plywood with its special non-slip coating is perfect for such purposes.

Packaging

Plywood is one of the elements used to make wooden pallets and industrial packaging.

Parquet

When laying wooden floors, plywood can be used as a substrate (usually WBP plywood thanks to its increased moisture resistance).

Exercise equipment and toys

Plywood can often be found on sport grounds, for example, jump exercise boxes are usually made from it. Many wooden toys are also made from plywood.

Laser cutting

When it comes to manufacturing complex parts, plywood is often used for laser cutting purposes. This requires special plywood with additional quality control.
