Product Description
Wire mesh F/W acacia film faced plywood is a high-density anti-slip panel built on an acacia core, designed for flooring, transport decking, and industrial platform applications where slip resistance and structural rigidity are both required. The acacia core sets this panel apart from birch/alder alternatives – acacia is one of the denser hardwood species used in plywood production, producing a panel with greater stiffness, higher load-bearing capacity, and better resistance to surface indentation under point loads. These properties make it particularly well suited to vehicle load floors, heavy industrial platforms, and any application where the panel must resist both surface wear and structural deflection simultaneously.
The F/W surface configuration applies a smooth film to the back face and a wire mesh embossed anti-slip film to the working surface, providing grip under wet, dusty, and contaminated conditions throughout the service life of the panel.
Description of Production Features
The acacia core is bonded using phenolic or melaminic adhesive, both rated to EN 314-2 Class 3 for exterior and wet service conditions. Phenolic bonding provides maximum waterproof performance and chemical resistance, appropriate for transport applications where the panel is exposed to fuel, oil residue, and repeated washing. Melaminic bonding at Class 3 offers comparable moisture resistance with different surface chemistry and may be specified depending on application requirements or project documentation needs.
The wire mesh film is applied to the working face over the acacia veneer, with the embossed grid pattern pressed into the film surface during production. The heavier film weight on the textured face extends wear resistance across the service life of the panel. The back face carries smooth film, providing the waterproof barrier and protecting the core from moisture penetration from the underside. Formaldehyde emission meets E1 class and the panel carries FSC, CARB, and TSCA Title VI certifications.
Characteristics
- Acacia core: Higher density and stiffness than birch/alder – greater load-bearing capacity and resistance to surface indentation under point loads and wheeled equipment.
- Anti-slip wire mesh surface: Embossed grid pattern on the working face maintains grip under wet, oily, and contaminated conditions throughout the panel service life.
- Dual bonding option: Available in phenolic or melaminic adhesive to EN 314-2 Class 3 – both systems rated for exterior and wet service conditions.
- F/W configuration: Smooth film back protects the core from below; wire mesh face provides the functional working surface above.
- Triple certification: FSC, CARB, and TSCA Title VI compliance for European and North American project documentation.
- E1 formaldehyde emission: Compliant with European requirements for occupied indoor and transport environments.
Sizes and Thicknesses Offered
Alvi-Bel supplies wire mesh F/W acacia film faced plywood on a standard 1250×2500 mm sheet format.
Available thicknesses include: 9 mm, 12 mm, 15 mm, 18 mm, and 21 mm.
The higher stiffness of the acacia core means thinner gauges – 9 mm and 12 mm – perform comparably to thicker panels in lighter flooring and overlay applications, while 18 mm and 21 mm are specified where structural load distribution and panel rigidity are primary requirements. The 15–21 mm range covers the standard specification for truck and trailer load floors, vehicle ramps, and heavy industrial decking. Contact Alvi-Bel to confirm current availability, bonding specification, and lead times for your requirement.
Surface Types and Materials
The F/W surface configuration provides two distinct functional faces:
- Smooth face (F – back): Phenolic or melaminic film applied to the underside or concealed face. Provides the waterproof barrier, protects the acacia core from moisture penetration, and creates the surface that contacts the supporting structure below.
- Wire mesh face (W – working surface): Anti-slip film with an embossed wire grid pattern applied to the top face. The raised grid provides mechanical grip across a range of contamination conditions – wet concrete floors, oil residue, metal swarf, and similar industrial environments typical of workshop and transport settings.
The acacia veneer beneath the film contributes to surface hardness and resistance to indentation at the film-wood interface. In applications where the film surface sustains damage through heavy use, the dense acacia substrate resists the panel deforming or compressing locally in the way softer-core panels can.
For the same anti-slip F/W configuration on a birch/alder core – lighter weight with comparable grip performance – wire mesh F/W birch/alder film faced plywood provides the alternative. For smooth film faced panels on an acacia or eucalyptus core without the anti-slip surface, the film faced / laminated plywood category covers available configurations.
Areas of Application
Wire mesh F/W acacia film faced plywood is specified in flooring, transport, and industrial platform applications where both anti-slip performance and high structural load capacity are required. The combination of acacia core density and wire mesh surface makes it the appropriate choice when a birch/alder panel of equivalent thickness would not provide sufficient stiffness or surface hardness for the application.
Primary uses include heavy vehicle load floors and trailer decking where point loads from pallet jacks and forklifts are a regular part of the operating environment, industrial mezzanine and access platforms subject to continuous foot traffic and equipment movement, and vehicle ramps where both grip and structural deflection resistance are safety-critical requirements. For anti-slip plywood requirements across different core specifications and film configurations, the full anti-slip category covers the available range.
In flooring applications requiring a hard-wearing surface panel rather than a structural subfloor element, the acacia core provides durability that lower-density panels cannot match under sustained traffic loads. Where exterior plywood performance is required without a film surface, the exterior plywood category provides phenolic-bonded bare veneer alternatives.
Adhesive and Formaldehyde Emission
Phenolic or melaminic adhesive bonds all veneer layers throughout the panel, both systems rated to EN 314-2 Class 3 for fully exposed and wet service conditions. The adhesive maintains bond integrity through fuel, oil, and solvent contamination typical of transport and industrial environments, alongside repeated pressure washing and outdoor exposure. Formaldehyde emission is within the E1 class range and CARB Phase 2 and TSCA Title VI compliance is confirmed for regulated North American markets.
